Well today was....fun?
So today I had to go for my Rh shot since I am part of the small percentage of people with Rh negative blood...I have to get this shot with every pregnancy because if the baby is Rh positive then complications could/would arise if our blood mixes during delivery. Now if Matt is Rh negative then I wouldn't have to get the shot because 2 negative parents don't make a positive baby (HAHAHAHA), however we will never know (and I could be getting needles for nothing) because Matt's doctors won't tell him...don't get me started on this one. So anyways...I got a needle, but not before waiting a good hour at the hospital to get it.
I was then told that I needed to do another glucose tolerance test, but a longer one this time. I went this past Friday for it but I "failed" because my levels were too high (I failed the first test with Zachary too but passed the second one so let's hope that happens this time too). So they gave me a requisition to do the 2 hour test. I went to the lab across the street and got very angry (I didn't show it though, yay me!) when the girl told me I couldn't do it because she wanted to go for lunch at 12:30 (it was 10:45) and the test takes two hours. She told me to just go to another lab because she couldn't push her lunch by 15 minutes. ANYWAYS, I walked to the other lab down the street (word of advice...crocs + winter = bad) and started the test. Basically they draw blood at the beginning, give you an orange pop type drink that you have to finish in 5 minutes, then draw blood 1 hour after you finish drinking, and then more blood after another hour and that's it. You'd think with what I just described that I would have been poked 3 times...but OHHHH no...I apparently have deep veins which are not conducive to having blood drawn, fun. Luckily needles don't bother me or I probably would have passed out a zillion times today (at least that's what the lab tech's all said after consecutively trying to extract my blood one at a time...I felt like a test patient at nursing school lol). So in total I was poked 14 times, my arms make me look like a drug addict, and I couldn't bend my arms because of the amount of cotton balls they taped to them lol. It was quite a sight to see.
Then I came home and rewarded myself with some Swiss Chalet and a nap...that was the fun part of the day :)
Well...that's all...I'll find out the results later this week so lets all cross our fingers that I don't have gestational diabetes.
Much Love

Awww, that sucks Nikki! You should come up to Orillia and go to LifeLabs on Memorial. Just ask for Vicki, aka 'the Boss'. Difficult veins are her speciality!
